Benoît de Villeneuve, known as Villeneuve, is a French musician, composer, and producer who has carved out a unique space within contemporary music. Since launching his career in Paris in the 2000s, he has traversed a wide range of musical styles, from ambient electronic to film scores. His work, characterized by a subtle blend of electronic music, cinematic soundscapes, and introspective poetry, explores the blurred lines between the organic past and the digital future.

His new album Soul Tuning represents a significant evolution in Villeneuve’s journey. Composed, performed, and produced entirely in his studio, it primarily features modular synthesizers and a few acoustic instruments. This choice reflects his desire to confront the constraints of technology while preserving a sense of spontaneity and physicality in his work.

Villeneuve : "It is a reflection on the existence of the soul—human souls, artificial intelligence souls, and even the soul of music itself. Some of Philip K. Dick’s and J.G. Ballard’s writings have left a deep impression on me. As technology advances exponentially, many of the scenarios they envisioned are becoming reality. I want music to remain mysterious and magical, not merely functional. It should provide a sense of depth, an additional layer of soul and meaning."
